BARREL Status Report #3, August 4, 2016

BARREL Status Report #3
August 4, 2016

It’s a beautiful evening in Kiruna. Today, we got a lot accomplished. We conducted a comprehensive performance test for our first payload (2J) and finished getting the second payload (2S) ready for its CPT. A third payload (2U) is checked out and ready to be buttoned up. We did a mechanical hang test with ESRANGE equipment to make sure everything fits together as it should.

We got a final mass on this payload (29 kg) and it comes pretty close to the launch mass from last year, which is comforting. We also set up our local GSE in the “Basilica” which is the building we’ll use for launch and termination operations. Tomorrow we plan to do a flight compatibility test with ESRANGE to makes sure everything checks out electrically.

So far so good, and we are still on schedule for our flight readiness review on Monday!
